Savage Gear Cutbait Herring
The Savage Gear Cutbait Herring is a range of soft baits dedicated to saltwater fishing for large predators. Its shape recalls the Atlantic herring, a key prey for large marine species. The range belongs to the family of big game saltwater soft baits and is designed to work with a refined swim and a ready-to-use rig.
What it is for
This bait is used when you need to present a bulky, realistic profile to large marine predators, in offshore settings or in coastal waters where feeding is based on baitfish. The Cutbait Herring comes into play when targeting halibut, large cod and other open-water predators. The range offers a sinking action and a construction designed to handle the action well while fishing, with hooks already matched and a shape engineered to look credible in the water.
Features
- Range inspired by the Atlantic herring, one of the main prey items of large marine predators.
- Sinking action to work at depth and maintain the presentation while fishing.
- Available in two lengths: 20 cm and 25 cm.
- Available in two weights: 270 g and 460 g.
- Rigged with 1 hook and dedicated hook size: #8/0 on the 20 cm version, #10/0 on the 25 cm version.
- Available in natural and high-visibility colours, useful for adapting the choice to water and light conditions.
At Pescaloccasione, the Savage Gear Cutbait Herring range is offered in multiple size and colour variants, so you can choose the model best suited to working depth, prey size and fishing spot.

Frequently asked questions
| How do I choose the right size of the Cutbait Herring? | The choice depends on the prey you want to target and the presentation you need. The range offers 20 cm and 25 cm, with different weights and hook sizes matched to each size. |
|---|---|
| What type of fishing is this bait used for? | It is used in saltwater fishing for large predators. The range is designed for species that feed on baitfish, in offshore or coastal settings. |
| Is the bait ready to fish? | Yes. The range comes with 1 hook and the hook size already defined for each version. This reduces the decisions needed when preparing the tackle. |
| What is the difference between the variants in the range? | Length, weight, hook size and colour change. The function remains the same, but the different combinations help you choose the profile best suited to the spot and fish behaviour. |
| What maintenance does it require? | After use in saltwater, it is advisable to rinse the bait with fresh water and dry it well. This helps limit the effect of salt on the hook and rig components. |
